It’s ‘sposed to be like that! What’s the worst (best) excuse you’ve had?

We’ve all had it. That disappointing moment after you’ve handed over your hard-earned wonga and the barkeep plonks a pint in front of you and you know, by sight or smell alone that it just ain’t right. That’s OK, these things happen from time to time. It’s how the bar person deals with it that counts. Most of the time it’s dealt with professionally and satisfactorily. But the occasionally I’ve had some brilliant BS excuses as to why there’s nothing wrong with the beer. The one I would think most of us has had is “it’s supposed to be like that”, but what other reasons have you been given to excuse that sub-standard beer? I’ll start the ball rolling by giving you the best (excuse) I’ve had. During a pub crawl in Bradford several years ago, we got caught in …

Nottingham takes cider award

BeerHeadZAwards, News Leave a Comment

BeerHeadZ Nottingham Station took its first award last night – ironically Nottingham CAMRA’s Cider Pub of the Year! Manager Greg Downing was presented with the certificate by Nottingham CAMRA’s Apple rep Ray Blockley, who praised the pub for stocking less widely available brands therefore supporting the small independent cider makers. A good choice of ciders and perries was available, including Janet’s Jungle Juice and Hartland’s Farmhouse Perry. Greg thanked just about everybody on earth and then got on with the important business of quality control. A great night and another certificate for the BeerHeadZ wall!

Grantham takes second award

BeerHeadZAwards, News Leave a Comment

BeerHeadZ Grantham has taken Grantham CAMRA Town Pub of the Year for the second year in a row. Grantham CAMRA chairman Nev Lomas handed over the certificate last night to the team and it soon became apparent that there was a hilarious mistake – The award was made out to BearHeadz! It was a source of much merriment throughout the evening, and had we known, we would have got a keg of Hofmeister in for the occasion. A red-faced Nev promised to get the certificate reprinted and no offence was taken! Thanks to all the team at Grantham; Briony, Neal, Mark, Simon and Sam (who sadly couldn’t make it) for their hard work in making BearHeadz Grantham such a success. Richly deserved. Thanks also to Kev and partner for providing the excellent curry and accompaniments to soak up the fabulous …

After months of delays and weeks of hard work, BeerHeadZ Lincoln finally opened at noon today. If truth be told, we’re not 100% ready, but the beer’s good which is the main thing! So please stick with us whilst we make improvements over the next few days. The BHZ crew at Lincoln – Jon, Scott, Craig, Rachel, Tim and David – got a good work out on our practice run last night and the place was well received by all those who attended. We have a cracking beer lineup for starters – six on cask and nine on keg – including some beauties from Weird Beard, Wild Weather, Neon Raptor and Abbeydale among others. We look forwarded to serving you with some top class beers and hope to see you all soon!
